Giving Back to Building Forward | Chatham Habitat for Humanity Solar Partnership

A Partnership with Habitat for Humanity

When you believe in something deeply, you show up for it, again and again. At Yes Solar Solutions, that belief has guided our long-standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity. Both organizations are rooted in community, shared values, and a commitment to doing more with purpose.

What started with small acts, such as donating materials, sponsoring fundraisers, and attending Habitat Home Tours, has grown into something far more impactful. Our Habitat for Humanity solar partnership brings energy solutions to where they are needed most.

A Shared Vision from the Start

Our official collaboration with Chatham Habitat for Humanity began in 2024, when we installed a 30.7 kW system on the rooftop of the Chatham office building. From there, the momentum only grew. Later that same year, we partnered again, this time to install solar on their warehouse. Before the year was over, we had installed systems on ten (10) Habitat homes, with three (3) more to follow.

Our team designed the systems to be low-cost, reliable, and easy to service. Each one uses Enphase microinverters and is configured for long-term performance.

The relationship with Chatham Habitat started long before the installation.

In our early days, Yes Solar supported Habitat’s mission in quieter ways, through Giving Tuesday fundraisers, material donations, and community breakfasts. Our founders, Kathy and Stew Miller, connected deeply with the work and the people behind it.

“We have always believed in putting solar where it is needed most,” Stew explained. “That includes Chatham Habitat homes, and any Lower-to-Moderate Income (LMI) projects where solar can make a real difference.”

What This Work Really Means

For us, this is not about the number of panels or the kilowatt hours. It is about reducing monthly utility costs for families, contributing to a more equitable clean energy future. It is about supporting organizations, like Habitat, that build lasting impact from the ground up.

One moment that stands out was at a Habitat fundraising breakfast years ago. A teenage girl shared how her family’s new home gave her the stability she needed to focus on school, apply to college, and dream bigger. “There was not a dry eye in the house,” Stew remembers. “Everyone reached for their pledge cards and increased them.”

These stories are at the heart of the work we do. They remind us of what this partnership is really about empowering people

Looking Ahead

We are proud of what we have built together, and even more excited for what is ahead. More installations, more impact. More ways to get our team involved directly, whether through volunteering or hands-on build days.

This blog also kicks off a new spotlight series that will share more stories from our partnership with Habitat for Humanity. These updates will feature the people behind the projects, the progress we are making together, and what it means for the communities we serve.
