This Raleigh homeowner took advantage of solar and storage through Duke Energy’s PowerPair℠ Incentive Program. This resulted in a 11.05 kW system with a Tesla Powerwall 3. Their system uses Q-Cells 425W Q.TRON panels and is expected to produce 16,500 kWh annually.
The incentive program they utilized is eligible for new solar + storage customers in Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas territories. The PowerPair℠ incentives cover up to $9,000 or about 13% of the installed equipment cost. The incentive is in addition to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) federal tax credit that covers an additional 30%. Both the solar and battery qualify for this tax credit.
This home had the option to add the panels to the back of the home. Their decision to include battery storage allows them to harness the additional electricity they did not use during the day. The battery can utilize that energy at night or during a power outage or power an electric vehicle.
