This homeowner is enjoying solar storage in Cary through Duke Energy’s PowerPair℠ Incentive Program. Their 8.91 kW system is a combination of 22 REC 405W panels and a Tesla Powerwall 3.
The two story home has enough sunlight flooding two sides of their rooftop. The panels easily stacked on the two sides to soak in additional rays as the sun moves from east to west. There were no trees shading either side. This makes solar storage in Cary ideal as it gains the most sun exposure possible throughout the year.
The incentive program is eligible for new solar + storage customers that are homeowners in Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas territories. The PowerPair℠ incentives cover up to $9,000 or about 13% of the installed equipment cost. The incentive was in addition to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) federal tax credit that covers an additional 30%. The solar and battery both qualify for this tax credit.
Adding battery backup is almost free with the stackable incentives available in 2024. The low equipment costs, paired with the $9,000 incentives and 30% tax credit is the lowest yet. However, not all homeowners qualify as this is a Duke Energy program. Most of the time, Yes Solar Solutions is able to work with each homeowner to work with their budget.
