National Drive Electric Week Celebration

This past weekend, we were charged up for the National Drive Electric Week Celebration.  We are happy to have taken part and to have talked to EV owners and fans at the Research Triangle Park Headquarters in Durham.  Over 18 Models were represented including Tesla Model S, Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3 REx, Ford Focus Electric, Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive, Porsche Cayenne S E- Hybrid, and Toyota Prius Prime and RAV4 EV.  We had the opportunity to present at the event and even got to hear from some current customers about their (great) experience with us.  The event was brought to you by Plug-in NC and Advanced Energy.  Plug-in NC is a state-wide program, established in 2011 to promote electric vehicles through education and outreach, consulting and resource development.  Advanced Energy is a nonprofit energy consulting firm.  They work with public and private organizations in the residential, commercial and industrial, solar, motors and EV markets.  Their customized services include, training, consulting, research and program design to provide economic, environmental and societal benefits in energy based markets.

Yes Solar Solutions at National Drive Electric WeekRoad to Zero Emissions

Yes Solar Solutions was there to discuss the benefits of solar, solar storage and EV charging with a theme of getting on The Road to Zero Emissions.  In a breakout session, we expanded on four key points for adding solar to your EV experience.

  • The average gas-powered vehicle emits the equivalent of 11,435 lbs. of CO2 annually. *
  • On average, using the NC electric grid to charge an EV releases 4,185 lbs. of CO2 each year.*
  • By using solar and storage, like Tesla Powerwall, to generate and store the electricity needed to power their vehicles, EV Drivers CAN reduce their transportation related emissions to zero.
  • Powering your EV with a home solar system, is typically cheaper than charging your car with electricity from the grid!

*Statistics According to: US Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center.

Offset EV Charging

At the event, we also discussed appropriate solar array sizing needed to offset EV charging and some average costs associated.  We customize your system design to your needs, whether you are powering your home, or EV or both!  We have outlined some estimations of system size and cost based on miles driven in our Powering Your Electric Vehicle With Solar post from May.  We are always happy to discuss your powering needs and can design a system that works for you.  Yes Solar Solutions offers customized solar systems, solar storage and EV charging solutions for both homes and businesses.

Thanks to Plug-in NC and Advanced Energy for putting on a great event and we look forward to next year’s National Electric Drive Week celebration!
