This Isn’t Our First Rodeo: 16 Years of Navigating Solar’s Ups and Downs

Solar Incentives End. This is Not New.

In the solar industry, change is part of the job. Solar incentives end. New programs launch. Prices shift. Policies rewrite the rules overnight.

At Yes Solar Solutions, we have been through it all for over 16 years; we know how to ride out the rough patches while helping our customers do the same.

Big Changes Have Happened Before

When North Carolina’s 35% state tax credit ended in 2015, system costs increased overnight. Many thought the market would stall. And for a moment, it did. But within a few months, new homeowners were seeing the ROI of solar without the incentives.

In 2020, COVID-19 changed everything again. We were not sure what each week would bring, but we kept showing up and kept systems running for customers across the state.

We also weathered the end of Duke’s SunSense rebate program, sudden shifts in material costs, and competition that was not always fair. And every time, we adapted, grew, and kept moving forward.

Why the Federal Tax Credit Matters Now

Today, the 30% Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is available if you install and pay for your solar system by December 31, 2025. It is one of the most valuable incentives homeowners can use, but like others before it, it will not last forever.

Recently, there has been a flurry of activity after the deadline changed. Our installation calendar is nearly at capacity. If you have not been able to secure a spot in 2025, all is not lost.

Duke Energy customers can still get into the PowerPair program that offers up to $9,000 off solar and battery storage systems. These systems can be installed in 2026 as they are not affected by the 30% credit deadline.

Experience You Can Count On

Whether it is a policy change, a market shift, or something no one saw coming, we have the experience to guide you through it. Our team will help you secure incentives, design a system that works for your needs, and make sure you are supported long after installation.

If you are ready to go solar, now is the time to talk. We have been here before, and we will be here to help you every step of the way, in the future.
