This Durham home transitioned to solar and added storage through a Solarize the Neighborhood program. This program is available to qualifying neighborhoods around the Triangle. At the event, our team discussed available solar incentives including Duke Energy’s PowerPair℠ Incentive Program. This incentive was eligible for new solar and storage customers in Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas territories. The PowerPair℠ incentives cover up to $9,000 or about 13% of the installed equipment cost.
In addition to the PowerPair incentive, the Durham home took advantage of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) federal tax credit. This covers an additional 30%. The solar and battery qualify for this tax credit.
The result for this homeowner is a beautiful 9.35 kW solar system. Their system uses 22 425w Q Tron panels, 8 Tesla optimizers, and a Tesla Powerwall 3 plus Gateway installed in their garage. The entire home is backed up thanks to the forward thinking of these homeowners.
Adding a battery backup to your system allows peace of mind at night from the clean energy from the solar panels during the day. It also reduces reliance on the electric grid and provides protection against outages. This Durham home solar system is expected to generate 13,753 kWh per year.
Congratulations to these Durham homeowners for their forward thinking to stack incentives and increase the value of their home even further.
