Bull City Commons

Bull City Commons is an urban cohousing community in Durham. Members of the Bull City Commons community aim to lead a lifestyle based on mutual support and shared resources. The award-winning building architecture has a design with an eye for sustainability and a small carbon footprint. Solar added to this building only enhanced that mission.

Yes Solar installed a 30.8 kW system to the system includes 70 CertainTeed panels and 3 SolarEdge inverters. The solar system has an estimated yearly production of 39,241 kWh. This project was also part of the Solarize the Triangle program.

Solarize the Triangle is a community-based group-purchasing program for solar energy, battery storage, and other clean energy technologies.

The 2022 Solarize the Triangle program was conducted across 11 communities. It set a national record as the largest solarize program in the country. 1,500 people signed up for free evaluations in a single campaign.

Over 180 home and business owners signed contracts to purchase renewable energy systems for their properties through the program, yielding 2.4 million kWh of annual energy production, more than $300,000 in annual utility bill savings, and nearly $6 million in new clean energy development locally.
