Solarize the Triangle ’23 Wrap Up
We ended our second run as the sole installer for the Solarize the Triangle program. The impacts this program has made in our community is incredible.
This record breaking program has over 1,300 kW of new clean energy capacity created from the 2023 program. Include the Solarize the Triangle 2022 numbers equals a combined total of over 3 MWs of new clean energy capacity in the Triangle!
We could not have done it without the interest and support of community members! This includes the City of Raleigh, Town of Morrisville, Durham County, Town of Hillsborough, Chatham County, Town of Chapel Hill, Town of Carrboro, and Town of Holly Springs.
The Future of Solar
Due to current social climate in the global solar industry, the total cost for solar installation has improved. The price has come down substantially over the past several months. Lower prices prior to summer months has been well received in the Triangle of those considering solar.
The Net Metering Bridge Rate
Yes Solar Solutions and two other local installers, intervened in Duke’s original request to the Utilities Commission, in 2023. A negotiated ‘bridge rate’ solution now provides an option for customers. Our leadership in these negotiations gives us an additional advantage in understanding how the new rates will work. There are many details to be worked out by Duke Energy and we are up for the challenge.
This bridge rate hybrid model has an annual capacity caps and is only available as an option until December 31, 2026.
